Train consistently and smart. Run some local races and hope to lower PR's every once in awhile.

I would love to see a 5:XX for a mile just one more time. Go under 20 in a 5K. And a sub 40 for a 10K.

I tinkered with the idea of running an easy 10 today. But that would have taken longer than I would have wanted it to. Being Mother's Day and having to work later tonight, I did not want to spend more than an hour on my run. I thought about 6 to 7 at easy pace would fit into my schedule, but I really wanted to run 8 today. So I decided to try and do it at 7:30 pace and get it done right at an hour.

I felt good, and the legs were fresh from yesterday's rest. It drizzled some and only started to rain with .2 to go.

I also went ahead and began to show more of the data from my Garmin. I had been embarrassed to show how little the hills were in my area compared to some of the hills other bloggers run. To some my hills are merely minor bumps in the road. But its what you are used to I guess that determines what is easier or harder for you to do.

Your hills can't be smaller than mine - I have only two ways of getting hill training in: 1) run up over the freeway overpass or 2) run up one of the two roads several miles away from us that heads uphill towards the mountains in our area. Everything else is flat as a pancake.

James,

I don't feel as bad now. But over time you will notice I almost always have more descent than ascent. And believe me that is done by design. I am not a hill running kind of guy. Avoid them whenever I can.

What kind of Garmin do you have?

I am looking to get one. I want a heart rate monitor, but I am not too sure getting the all in one is the best to do.

I have the Forerunner 305. It includes the heart rate monitor. I thought it would be something I would like to have. But I only used the monitor a few times. I would have been smarter to get the 205. it is the same watch, but without the monitor. And cheaper. I believe the 405 is out now. Supposed to be newer and better. But I do not know anymore about it than that. But I will always have a GPS watch after using this one. I have become so used to having my distance automatically measured for me on the fly. And I will never use all the other functions the watch has on it. I am not smart enough to figure all of them out.

I have worn it on my arm as well while biking. Worked good for that too.

Wish it was waterproof and could get a signal in the indoor pool. That would be awesome.
