Train consistently and smart. Run some local races and hope to lower PR's every once in awhile.

I would love to see a 5:XX for a mile just one more time. Go under 20 in a 5K. And a sub 40 for a 10K.

Ran with John again tonight.  He was hurting, so we took it easy.  My right shin area hurts.  Been tender for close to a week now.  Usually stops hurting within a few minutes of running.  But hurt almost all run tonight.  I will keep my eye on it.

Messed up on my Garmin and did not realize it at first.  But between my watch and John's I think it is just about right.

Nice Run. How many miles do you have on your running shoes? Sometimes shoes that are getting high in miles with the wear down can cause shin splints. If this occurs it's time for a new pair, or buy two pairs and rotate the shoes.

Kory,

About two weeks ago, for my first time ever, I bought 2 pair of new shoes. And I have been rotating them. I started to notice a slight bit of pain a couple of weeks ago. I had been doing more than usual treadmill running due to the high heat outside...and my work schedule. But only in the last couple of days has it been enough to give it thought. Ice, ibuprofen, and a slight taper will hopefully prevent it from getting any worse.

I think your problem is the treadmill because it somewhat alters your stride. I was using the treadmill everyday last winter and it cause problems with my Achillies tendon. I think a treadmill can be a big issue if your using it heavily. Once I stopped using it a lot the achillies tendon healed.

Also make sure you bought the right type of shoe for you foot arch.
