Train consistently and smart. Run some local races and hope to lower PR's every once in awhile.

I would love to see a 5:XX for a mile just one more time. Go under 20 in a 5K. And a sub 40 for a 10K.

Windy out today. Long run planned. Was going to do 12, but then I thought today would be a good day to run my very first half marathon. So if the accuracy of my Garmin is acceptable, that is exactly what I did. This is the longest single run in distance and time I have ever run. I stayed comfortable throughout. At 10 miles I seemed to freshen up a bit, and it was smooth sailing from there.

Nice run, that is cool how you put your splits on.

I like posting my splits, but I get tired of typing them on these longer runs. so I copied them from the Garmin training program that came with my watch.

That is pretty cool to post the Garmin. I have to get me one of those. I think that is next on the list for gadgets and gear.

How does it feel to roll out of bed and decide to a do a half marathon? And your last two miles are faster than the rest--great job by your self.

Did you refuel during the run?

John,

The Garmin can do a lot more than I could ever learn to use. But my favorite part that sets it apart from a normal sports watch is I never have to worry how far I have run. No more measuring courses with my car and trying later to remember where my mile markers were. When I get to an intersection, I can choose any direction I want and still meet my target mileage for the run. When I was injured and riding my bike more I wore it on my wrist and never had any problems logging those miles as well. I am a gadget guy and bought it for that reason at first. But now I to depend on it more and more. You can also load your workout to Google Earth..which I like to do from time to time.

As far as the the 13.1. It was actually done around lunch time. And I did not refuel during, but ate a banana and drank Gatorade afterwards.
