Train consistently and smart. Run some local races and hope to lower PR's every once in awhile.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to see a 5:XX for a mile just one more time. Go under 20 in a 5K. And a sub 40 for a 10K.

Leg did not hurt at all while at work today.  I was worried how it would feel this morning after yesterday's run.  Once I got started running, I could feel some pain, but not as much as last week.  I realized at .52 I had forgotten about it because it was hardly noticeable.  Now here and there throughout the run I would feel a twinge.  This gets me to thinking it may not be a stress fracture if it is a coming and going pain.

I got tired over the last 3 miles.  Legs are sore now.  Tomorrow will be a lesser mileage day since I have to take my son to soccer practice.  I will be grateful for an easy day.

In the morning if my leg is ok, I will cancel my doctor's appointment.  Even if it is a stress fracture, an x-ray would not pick it up anyway.  A bone scan would tell for sure.  But I am still paying on the 2 I had last year.  So I am going to save a few bucks for now, but will give in if the pain does not start getting better.

Scott, it is good to see you're back. I was starting to worry.

Sorry to hear about your leg pain. I think you're right that an x-ray will not tell much anyway. When I had my foot pain I was panicking but I kept running and with time it got better (it's almost completely gone). I'm not making a diagnosis here but I'm just hoping that what you have is some kind of tiredness and not something more serious.

It is hard to be excited about fast running when you are not feeling 100%. Your a government employee, sounds like your insurance is not the best if you are still paying on the bone scan.

Well my insurance probably is not the best. The Town always goes with the lowest bidder annually.

But my local hospital allows me to pay just under 60 bucks per month without interest. I figure why give it to them all at once if they are willing to take just a little bit at a time.

This is only true if there is no interest involved (which I doubt is the case). If there is interest involved and it is higher than the interest you earn on your deposits, then this is a bad deal. Of course if you don't have the money at hand you have no choice but otherwise it is better to pay all at once and not pay interest.

No interest at all. I first found this out on our 1st child. Then again with our 2nd. Just set a payment schedule, make them on time, and no interest. It does not seem to matter how long it takes to pay them off, just as long as they get something on a regular basis. So we slowly paid our children's "being born" bills, and now my bone scans are all that is left.

Sometimes small towns have an advantage I guess.

Sorry to hear about your leg. Where exactly does it hurt you? A couple other possibilities: compartment syndrome, which is an inflammation of the sheath around the muscles, tendonitis, etc. Did the pain come on gradually, or was it something pretty sudden? You may want to consider posting this on the injury topic on the forum.
