Train consistently and smart. Run some local races and hope to lower PR's every once in awhile.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to see a 5:XX for a mile just one more time. Go under 20 in a 5K. And a sub 40 for a 10K.

Born in 1970. Grew up in Richmond, Virginia. Ran high school track and cross country. Also lived in the Outer Banks of North Carolina for a few years. Now living in South Hill, Virginia. Married since 1995 and have two children. Have been a police officer since 1994.

I don't know whats wrong with me.  Coming off a day off and one short and easy run both my right hip flexor and lower right leg hurt as if I just finished a hard 10 miler.  Man I hope these aches go away or at least fade away a little bit.

I swear my form felt funny tonight.  Like I was lopsided or something.

Scott: I hope these aches will go away. When is your OBX marathon? Your body might be tired and you may need a good long taper with only easy work to let it heal.

The race is THIS SUNDAY. My only goal is to finish. Well I hope I don not die either. I do not care about time. But I would like to run more than walk.

I have not trained the best I could have for this. But running a marathon was not my main objective for this year. But I am in as good as shape as I have ever been (as an adult) so I figured now is the time to try one.

If it's this Sunday, then probably the best strategy is to do nothing more than light walking and stretching in the days till the marathon.
