Short-Term Running Goals:

Train consistently and smart. Run some local races and hope to lower PR's every once in awhile.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to see a 5:XX for a mile just one more time. Go under 20 in a 5K. And a sub 40 for a 10K.

I knew all day I wanted to do a 10 mile run this evening.  But shortly after dinner I decided I wanted to see if I could average 7:30 for the run.  Not sure why I wanted to though.  I did it, barely, and it was tough.  Legs were hurting over the last 3 miles.  For a run this early in the week I should not have pushed it so much.  I am going to be sore the next few days I believe from this one.  I hope not though.

Right at 10, I had to stop and walk.  After about 30 seconds, I jogged the little bit I had left to go until I was home.

You always seem to finish your runs with your best time. Is that on purpose or just the way to like to approach a workout. That is a great workout.

Great question John, but I am not sure I can give you a good answer.

I know at the beginning of every run I start off easy and gradually increase my pace. I think it might be more of a mental thing. I have a fear of going out too hard and then bonking before the end. So as the miles are counting down on my home I get a better idea of how I am feeling and let myself go some.

What do you think ? Is this good, bad, no big deal? Should I get myself used to running my middle miles faster and allowing some recovery over the last ones?

Also, this is not bragging, but did you see my race results from Saturday? I know the time was slower than my 5K a few months ago. But how about those splits. They were virtually dead on with one another. This surprised me. Especially since I do start slow and end fast.
